Whoever thinks renewables aren't going to be shaping geopolitics of the next few decades needs to back that claim. Look at all that power & compute China's getting with solar alone *with such speed*. Their solar parks are twinned with coal plants and power industrial clusters

The government did make this decision to be fair, although there still isn’t an impact assessment to back it up.
@jackrdsn With you on levies, but while ‘prioritising consumers over generators’ is a nice soundbite, what does it mean in practice?. Guess you would argue going for zonal would do that, but the Govt decision was that on balance the cost to consumers, outweighed the benefits.

SSE were paid on avg £158/MWh to run gas plants through balancing, *9x the market price*. SSE took 13% of that day's wind constraint cost. This doesn’t show up in the market price but all goes on bills. Seagreen's STILL idle most the time. High electricity bills stump net zero.
@jackrdsn The average wholesale electricity price on the 5th August was £16/MWh. You either didn’t know that, or are deliberately feeding anti-renewables sentiment.
