1/ This morning my wife got a voicemail from the US Marshalls office asking her to call back on an urgent matter. She googled the phone number showing on her phone to verify it was from the US Marshall's Oregon brach.

Breaking: DC Police on scene 3000 Connecticut Ave NW. Earlier today there was 911 call for infant in cardiac arrest. Came while computer system that automatically dispatches DC fire engines/ambulances was down, resulting in confusion/possible delays. 11p @nbcwashington

New: DC Police on scene 1200 block Potomac Ave SE. Four people are reported shot, severity of injuries not known at this time. Fire Department on scene dealing with gas leaking from tank of an SUV that appears to have been struck by a bullet @nbcwashington

Police had already been called by time we realized what was happening. A much-fitter-than-me young woman (possibly a customer) pursued, but they disappeared into a crowd of about 100 people gathered for what looked like a runner meet-up

Some folks need to learn the word empathy and start practicing it. To the man I met yesterday this was devastating. He felt lost. His job gone. He was scared his way of life is gone. So to him, not seeing the iconic Baltimore bridge was like not seeing WTC after 9/11. EMPATHY.
