Second, we wanted to address the importance and role of advocacy in anti-trafficking efforts. Advocacy is embedded deeply into the foundation of social work and the ethical guidelines, yet CCHT faced much pushback from others regarding our advocacy efforts.

This article was born out of our staff's experience and particularly, Dr. Countryman-Roswurm's experience of advocating for a survivor. We wanted first to narrate the steps CCHT took to advocate for a survivor and provide practical steps for others doing the same.

Criminalization of human trafficking is complicated and nuanced. We found out we had a lot to say and thus, authored two articles regarding our experiences and journeys.

Over the years, criminalization of survivors (yes, minor survivors) despite the clear evidence of their own victimization. While most in the field are familiar with this damaging trend, we found it critical to contribute to the professional dialogue via peer reviewed articles.
