Think about it like this. This ICE agent was on camera and unmasked — fulfilling one of three "demands" Democratic leader Chuck Schumer just issued in order to agree to give DHS even more money. And he was still threatening to kill someone.

People who are politics junkies love language, and also, language is easier to change (a "symbolic deliverable", in my terminology) than substantive policies. Plus people want to believe that their policies are never unpopular and that everything is a communication problem.

This is a good example of how propaganda works. It generally isn't an attempt to convince people who don't already agree; rather, it exists to give those who support something terrible some rationale, no matter how ridiculous, to live with themselves.
