Regarding the recent application by @NFUtweets to allow 'emergency' use of neonics on sugar beet, this image explains the problem: most of the pesticide goes into soils, leaches into waterways, & is taken up by wildflowers & hedgerows. Only 5% in crop. https://t.co/M3ltdM3U8Z

Fascinating trip to @KneppWilding today. Including to the facilities they’ve developed to sell their meat - which looked amazing.

Extraordinary how the same vested interest groups that think it's ok to release 60 million birds of a non-native invasive species into the British countryside every year... ...are very often the same people that go apoplectic at the idea of releasing 2-3 native beavers

Elect Conservatives again = continue the decade-long policy disaster that is the badger cull. I’ve read the consultation doc and I’m shocked by its dishonesty. Can’t quite believe govt scientists are putting their names to this. They should be ashamed.

Really important research from @DaveGoulson. There are really effective herbal solutions for dog fleas, as there are for lice in human hair. Why poison our pets, us, our natural water systems and the environment? All these chemicals need to be challenged.

Both imidacloprid (a neonic) and fipronil are now found in the large majority of English rivers. Our research shows that owners washing their hands after contact with pets is a significant contributor. Washing bedding or bathing dogs also contributes.

“.. the temperate forest biome was historically heterogeneous (>50% open) rather than uniformly dense, which is consistent with the dependency of much of contemporary European biodiversity on open vegetation and light woodland.” Pine, oak, flowering shrubs - all need light!

Grrrrrr…..when will the demonisation of ragwort ever end and common sense prevail? It’s a myth that refuses to lie down, even amongst so-called nature-lovers.

Article on ragwort by @BBCCountryfile fails to mention the very important point that livestock simply don't eat ragwort unless it is dried and made into hay. Ragwort is a beautiful native wildflower and a fantastic resource for pollinators. https://t.co/9Cjk4Pofe7

River buffers 💧🌳 If every river had this along its length, the improvement to our biodiversity, climate resilience, water quality and water security would be absolutely huge. Probably the biggest reversal of nature depletion we could achieve. and it’s just so simple.

How is this for a #ThrowbackThursday! This tree planting project on Stock Beck is from way back in 2012. Riverside woodlands like this have loads of benefits. They keep rivers cool, provide wildlife habitats, filter pollutants, and much, much more! What's not to love! 💚
