Really important research from @DaveGoulson. There are really effective herbal solutions for dog fleas, as there are for lice in human hair. Why poison our pets, us, our natural water systems and the environment? All these chemicals need to be challenged.
Both imidacloprid (a neonic) and fipronil are now found in the large majority of English rivers. Our research shows that owners washing their hands after contact with pets is a significant contributor. Washing bedding or bathing dogs also contributes.

Grrrrrr…. when will the demonisation of ragwort ever end and common sense prevail? It’s a myth that refuses to lie down, even amongst so-called nature-lovers.
Article on ragwort by @BBCCountryfile fails to mention the very important point that livestock simply don't eat ragwort unless it is dried and made into hay. Ragwort is a beautiful native wildflower and a fantastic resource for pollinators.
