Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAHs) will now be able to sponsor 13,500 refugees abroad. This is a 10-fold increase from the cap in 2012.

Over 40 years, Canada has been a global leader in refugee resettlement. Today, we’re increasing the number of refugees that SAHs can sponsor to 13,500, a ten-fold increase since it’s intro in 2012. Their work helps create a safe & welcoming environment for refugees in Canada.
Today, Minister Fraser announced that sponsorship agreement holders (SAHs) will now be able to sponsor 13,500 refugees in 2023, an increase of 12,150 spaces from when the cap was introduced in 2012:

We are reducing the amount of in-Canada work experience required for a caregiver to apply for permanent residence from 24 months to 12 months. This change will take effect on April 30, 2023, and will be retrospective for caregivers who apply:
