Sadly, short-notice capital bids for colleges go against research, forcing a Think Fast mentality & meaning less control over team. That's why we used to develop ideas in advance, so we'd done slow thinking ahead of bid opportunities - "here's one we prepared earlier" won us £Ms.

Took great pride in fact @TBCG_Official involved in >£200m capital projects in my time, always on time/max 10% over budget. Pleased to learn we'd followed research, especially Think Slow, Act Fast; get team right (same Estates Director for 20 yrs) & focus on why we're investing.

Definitely recommend to all current/aspiring CEOs. Most compelling argument I’ve read against excessive CEO pay. Plus strong evidence re importance of experience (especially of tough conditions) & sector/domain-specific knowledge. They find UK companies too often to ignore both!

We need more books to avoid becoming a forgotten sector. Our research networks are doing a good job but rightly focus on practice rather than policy or history. There are even fewer books on private FE trainers, which is a real shame too.

There are too few books on post-incorporation FE. This was one of first, published exactly decade ago. Very pleased to be one of team involved. Proud Tom Jupp's Leadership chapter featured Bedford College's "Mission-led repositioning and Consistent Growth"

Annual pilgrimage to Apothecaries Hall to celebrate the admission of great colleges & top leaders as members & fellows of the Chartered Institution for Further Education @FEcharter. Our college members now account for nearly £1 in every £3 of college sector income!
