All that excitement about SQLite per user reminds me of this talk from 2012 by @lvh about fractal architectures. It was the first time I was exposed to the idea of many SQLite databases and it stuck with me ever since.

People think ChatControl is about specific crimes. No, that’s not what’s at stake. What’s being made is an architecture decision for how private messaging systems work : if it passes, by law these systems will be wired for mass surveillance. This can be used for any purpose.

@paulg Well, the paranoid hypothesis is that the NSA has made a major classical breakthrough in ECC and is keeping it quiet while they move everyone off that ecosystem. It’s not totally implausible. Koblitz&Menezes proposed that and I summarized it here.
