Showing up for yourself. It’s okay to put your own wellbeing first. You don’t have to engage! Take some time away from social media and the news, spend time with friends and whānau, play a game, do something creative, go for a walk, feel sunlight on your face.

Tino rangatiratanga = Trans liberation

Showing up on a systemic level. Make your support visible year round! Uplift trans voices and creatives, wear pride pins, put up posters. If you’re a member of a school community, contact them to share support. Contact your local politicians about the needs of our communities.

Trans people have always been here and always will be.

Showing up for your community. Get to know your community and the people in it, how are they doing? What do they need? Volunteer and fundraise for community groups and orgs. Check in with, share info and offer support to community members engaging in protests or direct action.

Transgender, non-binary and irawhiti people are beautiful, loved and worthy of support.

Showing up for your loved ones. Check in with your trans friends and whānau; share resources, take care of one another. Talk about this upcoming election: why it’s important to vote, and to vote with the wellbeing of our communities in mind. Encourage 3 friends to vote.

There are lots of ways we can show up, show care, advocate and make change - at the flaxroots, in our communities and on a systemic level. There are lots of tools in our kete and everyone has a part to play.
