Hey everyone, I have a big announcement today! After a year and a half away, I've decided to un-retire from making video game music covers on YouTube. I'll be continuing all my existing game music composition / recording work, but posting new videos when I have the time!
With a new year comes changes!
Today, I’m announcing my retirement as a video game music cover artist and content creator. I’m doing this to give myself more freedom to pursue things that I’m truly passionate about, and that I believe are important.
MonolithSoft literally made their OWN shinobue flutes (with the help of professional craftsmen) specifically for Xenoblade 3, to match the ones used in-game. This is just above and beyond… video game music goals right here!
“By making the flutes from scratch, you can create a sound that hasn’t been heard before.”

So, I played a saxophone solo in my latest video... using the in-game alto saxophone in Animal Crossing New Horizons. No pitch shifting - this was all completely random notes! Just took a few takes!

Today’s announcement was a big one, but one I’ve felt the need to make for a long time. It started off as a small urge, but slowly grew and came to a head over time. Thank you all for your kind words and messages ❤️
But now… the real work starts, and I’m so excited for it :)
I am one year older today! Thanks for everyone’s support in this huge year of change for me! 😃 I’m looking forward to sharing some new music with you all soon… 🎶
I don't normally talk politics on here, but this needs to be said: the racial injustice that has been highlighted by the most recent events here in the United States is absolutely awful and needs to be changed. Thread incoming.

Getting back into the swing of things on YouTube with my big band arrangement of DK Island Swing from Donkey Kong Country! This song has always reminded me so much of the famous jazz tune "Sing, Sing, Sing", so I thought I'd perform it with the same big band style! 🐵
It’s been just about a month since I announced my retirement from content creation, and I’d just like to say thank you to everyone who has wished me well and given me support! The journey away from content is slightly scary but a very fun one.
Hi everyone, so I'm officially graduating from college tomorrow! I've been a student for the entire 8 years I've been making YT vids, so it's a bit weird knowing that now I won't be! I wrote a short life update thing you can read here:
Today is the day! After my 10 year history of creating video game covers on YouTube, and spending much of the last year writing and producing this album, my debut original album "Insane In The Rain" is finally released in full! I'm so happy 💙
I'm incredibly excited to announce preorders for my new album of Pokémon Diamond / Pearl / Platinum music "Sinnohvation" are now live on Bandcamp! Full album comes out next Friday, December 11th!
When you're 8 minutes into a jam on Aquatic Ambience, and suddenly the iPhone marimba ringtone plays on your speakers because you get a call... what else do you do?
This was a great moment from this summer, when the original album was being recorded! Love this band 🥰
There is no better indicator of the power of music than the collective reaction of internet musicians to two sixteenth notes followed by an eighth note of the same pitch an octave up followed by another eighth note a fourth down
NEW VIDEO! So excited to share that I was sponsored by
@SquareEnix
to arrange the Main Theme from Octopath Traveler II by
@yasunorinishiki
for the game's release! I am a GIGANTIC fan of Octopath’s music, so this was SO COOL to get to do! Check it out!

Because of this, I’ve decided to stop posting covers. I’ll be focusing all my energy on creating original work and pursuing a career as a game audio professional. I’ve been creating content on YouTube for over 10 years now, and I’m ready to make this change.
Any further uploads on the channel will be all original content, and will not be on a schedule. Also, if you’re looking for someone to help out with your game’s music, I basically just quit my job, and I’m looking for new work so… I could use your help LOL
In 2 days, I'll be celebrating my 10 year YouTube channel anniversary! To celebrate... I have something new I'd like to share with you all.
Please join me then as I launch a brand new project to start the next era of insaneintherainmusic!
Felt kinda sad today after going to the grocery store and seeing employee shortages and thought “man, what’s the point of game music when our real world has so many huge problems”, and I realized - games help us escape temporarily from the real problems, so we can enjoy our time!
I got to play saxophone (and other instruments) on the
@Skullgirls
OST!!! You can hear me playing on the stage theme for Black Dahlia, an upcoming DLC character for Skullgirls! This track was composed by
@DarrenEMalley
, and I provided the horn arrangement / perfomances :)
Etika's death is so so sad. I never knew him personally, but I spent countless hours laughing at his videos. He was truly one of the greatest entertainers I've ever seen.
Mental health is very important. We're all going through something, the least we can do is be kind to all.
I’m aware of sites distributing my content / likeness as NFTs, please be aware that none of these are approved by me, as I do not currently distribute any materials as NFTs, nor do I have any plans to.
Crazy coincidence that I just realized:
- First video back since retiring is from Donkey Kong (DK Island Swing, DKC / DK64)
- Last video before retiring was Donkey Kong (Bramble Blast, DKC2)
- First video EVER was Donkey Kong (Angry Aztec, DK64)
The monkey knows all 🐵
After a cancelled first flight and an emergency medical diversion on my new flight… I finally made it to Montreal to spend the holidays with my best friend! ❤️ Merry Christmas everyone!🎄
I’ll still be active here on Twitter and social media, sharing my original work as I continue to progress with it. Thank you all for your support, and I hope to continue creating great music! If you have questions about my plans, happy to try and answer them.
Cat's (or in this case... dog's?) out of the bag! I got to work with
@tobyfox
on his song "Skies Forever Blue", providing live instruments and musical arrangement help!
@FamilyJules7x
is also on this, playing guitars and bass!

for making video games that introduced me to my lifelong loves of music and gaming! Without games like Pokémon in my life, I would have never met most of the wonderful people I'm proud to call my friends today!
Just walked past a room at Berklee with a choir working on an acapella rendition of "Sky Tower" from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. Can't believe that just happened.
I was lucky enough to have been interviewed by the Boston Globe about my YouTube channel! I read the Boston Globe pretty regularly these days, so to get the chance to be interviewed by one of their journalists was spectacular! The article is great too!
People talk about “mastering” an instrument as the final goal, but I don’t think people talk about “fluency” on an instrument enough. You probably haven’t mastered your native language, but you’re probably fluent enough at it to talk about most things with little effort.
