The lass on the wireless has hit the nail on the head; children less than 2 years old should be at home being parented, not fobbed off on expensive nurseries. Don't want to look after your kids? Don't have them then. Can't afford to have kids? Don't have them then.

My mother is 78 today. She spent the day at work. Tomorrow should be her day off but she's covering for someone in the afternoon. All summer she's worked longer shifts to help cover for a colleague who's been off with cancer. I hope in 30 year's time I have her zest and drive.

Not strictly true. That's the very edge of the YDNP, so you're hardly travelling "through" the Dales. You're in Cumbria, previously Westmorland, and the people who created Britain's wonderful National Parks are the people who live and work in them, not Labour politicians.
