In case anyone following this thread missed it, deer recovered
Today I screwed up, really really badly. Bolt was new, and for some reason flew really bad, 20 yards shot. Got one lung liver and bolt broke off (came out) — the buck is dead now, but had to track blood for over 1 Km in wetland, in rain. Not easy. I think I know where it is, but

Had a successful hunt today, 6+ year old buck, atypical. Dropped where I shot it. Luckily I’ve made very good friends here, helped me recover and process. My first rifle deer hunt. I’ve had black powder and archery only in the past. All set aside, I prefer archery.

Actually the biggest air filter are the oceans, obviously acidification isn’t helping. The plankton are the lungs of our planet. The forests are important, the oceans are critical.

So far this is the best 100 yards group I’ve produced out of my Tikka T3x Lite Synthetic Stainless in 6.5 Creedmoor. The Swarovski Z5i 3.5-18x44mm P BT L Plex H-I defiantly upped my game, the parallax adjustment will surely help on longer shots. Shooting Sako 156 gr DEERHEAD.

Spike got a pass. Had a giant mature (5.5+ y/o) buck in front of me, shot blocked by a few branches, didn’t take a chance injuring him. Big buck 1, Babak 0. If this were gun season, he’d be dead. But archery, if it’s not 100%, he walks. He made me. No wonder he’s old.
