High-impact, memorable domains
Joined January 2017
Sharing and documenting your journey is one of the best things you can do as a new investor to learn and make connections. It's why I decided to start gathering some of my thoughts and publish them after two years of domaining. Here is the first blog I published back in 2014:
@doronvermaat There was a time Doron wrote about his sales and brandable names...on DNgeek•com Very useful and interesting information shared...when it's sold most of the content was removed..😟

Super .xyz just broke the charts as the top .xyz sale ever reported. Huge congrats to @loganflatt (Media Code LLC) on this super-sized sale 🎉🚀

Listening to yesterday space... @JoshDotCo said... "For me I would like to know the reasons why I might be wrong same as I would like to know the reasons why I might be right." It is very useful skill...hard to think like that...but it will give you great results in long term.

The latest @a16z update on the Top 50 Gen AI Web Products just dropped. 17 of the top 50 Gen AI web apps are built on .ai domains. But the very top is still dominated by prime .coms. Let's break down what the latest a16z ranking tells us about domains in AI 👇 1/6

Pricing is a spectrum based on probability over time. The probability of a sale is driven by retail demand for a domain. The time axis is then how long a seller will wait for a specific price. The price you set = your forecast of that demand vs. your patience & risk appetite.

@blueleaf_garden Hand registering .com names is by far the hardest skill in Domaining yet that’s where new investors start.

@hypernames 100% agree This is exactly what I’m trying to display to newer investors via the DNAcademy investor challenge https://t.co/VHhFlLffjE
I sold two more domain names today in the @DNAcademy $500 Investor Challenge! This brings my total to 8 domains sold, with $1,403.60 in profit. You can see all of my purchases, sales, sales tactics -- as well as all of my competitors -- in the Google Sheet link in the next

If you're starting with domaining, try to close any sales/offers that generate ROI/profit - and then reinvest and improve your portfolio. Seeking headline-making outlier sales as a beginner is a recipe for failure. The odds are way too low. Optimise for survival instead.
@dnoption It takes time to learn, and time for capital to compound... maximising time in the game is half the battle. Lots of domainers give up before they reach a critical velocity.

Spending time on X sometimes makes you feel that other domain name investors get lucky a lot, landing those nice sales or even a moonshot. But what I have learned over the years is that although luck is real, it's rarely random. Those "lucky breaks" come after years of

Nobody can tell you if you made a good sale or not. They don’t know you. They don’t know what you want or need. When you want or need it. Why you want or need it. So you shouldn’t listen to them if they say you sold too low or too soon.

@PCPowerUp1 It will depend on type of domain name, but you may be thinking of an analysis done by @hypernames. He found 48% lander, 46% reg path, majority from GoDaddy itself. With his permission, I wrote it up in this article that includes links to his posts:

A key question is: what are the critical steps for a domain name to be discovered and ultimately purchased? Last week Nikul Sanghvi of Hypernames posted data from his own portfolio that helps to...
