Very true. Struggling to commit pustakastha-mantras to memory. Śruti is śruti-mārga-grāhyā.
The mantra-s which I memorised in original Shruti form, w/o help from book, those are the ones I never forget even if years have passed. Those which I memorised w/ book’s help, I need to revisit them at least once a year. Maybe someday I’ll have the luxury to teach like that only
