As for us, for those of you that have actually read all 12 of these tweets, since we’re officially back as #1 in our fans’ hearts, but #11 in the cold, black hearts of the HRL Brass, we’re proudly announcing that we will be taking the field in 2021 as...

So logically we decided to keep the charade going during our layoff. We did have to fend off one team from using our actual choice as their temporary name for their merged team—so they went with our second choice...the Yard Goats.

And we were off. We were actually in the process of trying to figure out the best way to finally let them off the hook—likely opening week, since we may have even been facing them—when the pandemic hit, and we unfortunately had to opt out...

Just kidding! Of course the logical reaction was to play it up as much as possible to torment them/him—so the Twitter handle was changed (#AllHailTheWhale...ers), a logo was created (taking the time to even make the little Nuts hats into the official hats made last year)...

Of course, our logical response to this rumor was to reach out and ensure that the Lugnuts knew that we had nothing to do with the name at the winter meeting, and we would definitely be changing it for the season...

However, the HRL Rumor mill got word to us that a certain revolutionary figure from the @HRL_Lugnuts was none too pleased about the possible infringement on 🥜 🌰 🔩 territory. #NutsNutsNuts

Because Dee has a sense of humor that has progressed beyond 🍆 and 💨 jokes (unlike yours truly), and because we didn’t want to subject @khow to endless 🥜 🌰 🔩 jokes, it was never the intent to keep the Nuts name.

So someone (I’m looking in your general direction, @JustTruck) named us the Nuts...as in Dee’s Nuts...as in Deez Nuts.

By winter meeting time, we had the spot and a few players, but no official name. For the divisional draw, we needed a name so our time could go on the board...

Back in early 2020, pre-pandemic, @chilliniguy got approval to have a team slot in Eagan, and started putting together his squad.

As we alluded to in our text on Friday night, the Nuts never actually were a team.

So the Nuts are in fact back for 2021...but the Nuts will not actually play a game in 2021...a (likely unnecessarily long) thread...

Wow... RIP HRL Nuts, 20xx-20xx. Never got to play a game, nor inform the @HRL_Lugnuts that we never were actually intending to use the Nuts name. Thanks for holding the spot through the pandemic and the great communication that we were on the chopping block, @HRLTwinCities.
