You can put the baby in a crib or play pen and go crash out somewhere else. Scaring your baby while having a fit is completely avoidable.

When we adopted our son I sat up and cried with his birth mom the night he was born. We both knew it was a loss for them both even if it was deeply necessary so intentionally putting a child in that situation is crazy to me.
