Not an expert of the maritime industry, but I am a former deckhand on the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, so let's talk about some of the reasons why this doesn't exist and why this probably won't exist in the future:

If you were hesitant about voting Yes on HLA because of the firefighters’ argument, just know that there is now a community note attached to their ad correcting the misinformation.
Yikes! The @UFLAC argument against Measure HLA is so full of falsehoods that Twitter added a community note to their ad. Here's the truth: Measure HLA will fix our dangerous streets, speed up emergency response, and save countless lives.

Love watching this video while I hear an emergency response vehicle hauling ass down my street in a bus designated lane. 🥰
Fact checking the @UFLAC video. Firefighters are heroes; such a shame their union is spreading misinformation against a ballot measure that will save lives (and speed up emergency response).

LAFD’s argument is disingenuous. I live on a street with a peak hour bus lane and emergency vehicles are able to use it to bypass traffic. I catch a bus in DTLA on a street without bus lanes. Emergency vehicles get stuck in traffic for a while before they can go anywhere.
Firefighters are spending $$ opposing safer street infrastructure in LA. Nationally, just 4% of fire truck runs are for actual fires. Their main job? Medical emergencies. And traffic collisions are a significant source of emergency medical care. Curious. https://t.co/PCFxeVtl7d

I’m quoted in this story from the LAT.
Open these gates for pedestrian access! “Blocking access from Pico creates an “undue burden and equity issue on transit riders and pedestrians” living to the south.” - @hoffbeatenpath

I hardly bike anymore because it’s so unsafe. Buses (esp during rush hour) are so slow since they’re in the mix with traffic. I can’t wait to safely bike again and have fast transit!
Did you know Measure HLA would require the city to make safety improvements for pedestrians to 560 miles of city streets?

It was BFD at last night’s @lademocrats meeting as grassroots activists rose up and rejected attempts to abandon progressive principles, voting overwhelmingly to endorse @nithyavraman, @SJOberstein and George Gascon. (thread)

Our first monthly group ride took a fun sunset tour of Santa Monica’s new bike infrastructure! Highlights were the quick build protected bike lanes on 17th St and Ocean Ave. Our verdict? We want more of this, and we want it everywhere. Stay tuned for details on our next ride!

Yes & also The elimination of public facilities & amenities in the US is a direct response by the white elite to racial integration
The lack of public restrooms in the United States isn’t just an inconvenience. It’s a sign of America’s failure to invest in communal necessities for the collective good. https://t.co/SjyBN90XO6

I have zero sympathy for stores when these smash n grabs happen. They are doing much more systemic harm than those who are looting stores.

Flashback to when Milwaukee was labeled the “best-governed city in the U.S.” in 1936 Time Magazine called socialist Mayor Daniel Hoan, then 20 years in office, “one of the nation’s ablest public servants”
