This is very cool indeed 😊
WIE collaboration funding has led to Professor Kate Astbury (SMLC) and SVG2 (St Vincent and the Grenadines Second Generation) being asked to develop community-assisted curations of monuments in St Paul's Cathedral for a major new trail. See more here: https://t.co/9Fsjw24XE1

I’d rather have people in government from working class backgrounds who achieved those places based on merit and hard work, than a bunch of privileged wankers whose parents paid for their opportunities.

This is a fascinating thread
I love watching MPs swearing in following an election. It’s an easy way to learn new names and faces and gives a great insight into the religious, national and political identities of members. Here’s a thread of some of the more interesting moments from the last couple of days🧵

4. I marvel that it’s taken me this long to watch this important piece of TV. I’m grateful to Lance’s fascinating work for steering me toward it. There is little that brings more pleasure than great TV. This is certainly that. More thoughts will follow…

3. We both worry together about what’s going to happen to them. I have a vague sense of the stories surrounding the production of the programme from the reading of various TV histories. I know it won’t be a happy life for all of these people

2. I am absorbed by the first couple of episodes. Am watching with my son, Rudy, who is similarly entranced by this bit of ‘old TV’. Ru is 16, autistic, smart and with a strong sense of in/justice. He is as gripped by the unfurling of their political beliefs and prejudices

1. A confession: I had never watched a whole episode of Michael Apted’s ‘7 Up’ series. I had of course seen bits and pieces as parts of other programmes but never watched properly. I’m watching in advance of examining Lance Hayward’s thesis @TeleHistories @WarwickFilmTV
