Whilst conducting routine Maritime Security patrols on the South Coast, TYNE responded to a MAYDAY call for a missing diver.
Proceeding at full speed, we arrived on scene within 45 minutes and joined the search alongside many fellow mariners.

Good Evening Twitter!
After 231 days alongside in Falmouth for the inaugural Batch 1 life extension refit, we are back at sea for regeneration.
We’re a new team, with a shiny new ship and an eagerness to get back to work!
#TYNEofOurLives
Supported by our friends and families across the country! Thanks for all the messages (and the mince pies from AB Clarke's Grandma), we're back in Portsmouth now but remain ready to sail at very short notice.
Pompey revs!
Following a week of
@FOST
training, we will shortly be making our first entry into Portsmouth since sailing in July 2022.
We’re very much looking forward to bringing the Ship home!

London calling!
Absolutely great to be in the Capital for a few days. Long day (and night!) up the river but absolutely worth it for these views!
Stay tuned for some updates over the next few days...more to come!

As the patrol continues, it’s the turn of our highly skilled seamanship department,which is made up of
@RoyalNavy
&
@RNReserve
personnel to conduct night seaboat operations navigating through the pitch black.....
20 mins after joining the search, with
@RNLI
lifeboats,
@MCA_media
aircraft and fishing vessels, we spotted the diver who was then rescued by a lifeboat.
We are extremely glad he is safe and well and that the response was so quick and effective from all involved!
Up bright and early for our entrance into Portsmouth to make it in time for

big day, huge congratulations on a momentous day for you and the

It might be

in the glorious Kernow sun but our busy refit period is cracking on at pace!
Couple of phots 👇 of some work on our hull as we look to prepare TYNE for years of operational excellence.

Gunnery is funnery! 💥
Our regular drumbeat of weapon training continued yesterday, ensuring we are ready to defend ourselves at any time.
Accurately firing from a moving target, at a moving target, is challenging. Fortunately they nailed it 🎯
#TYNEofOurLives
What a fantastic two days!
Our exercise with the LÉ George Bernard Shaw is now complete and we’re both heading our separate ways.
But what did we get up to you ask...?

We still practice flashing light and flag signals, even in this digitally connected world.
When everything else fails, or if we’re trying to be quiet, we can still talk to other ships in a language we all understand.
An old skill that remains completely relevant today.

Happy New Year to all of our followers, friends and family from all the on HMS Tyne, your support played a key role in our busy and successful 2019 which was also a huge year for the

Our highlights from the

bunch in particular were....
We train every day so that we’re ready for any eventuality at sea.
This morning we’re running boat drills, letting our Coxswains keep their skills honed manoeuvring alongside.
Our Seamanship Specialists also drive the Ship, fight fires and so, so much more.

As the winds briefly abated, a chance meeting allowed for some simple manoeuvring practice, with some flashing light and communications training.
Even in

Gloomy conditions for some gunnery training. Our aimers need to be ready to shoot, accurately, at any time of the day.
Having completed our modified watch rotation earlier in the week, we’re back at sea on our enduring Maritime Security tasking.
