Really pleased to hear recognition that children who are severely absent from school have been let down by services. Even better to hear about work being done to address the barriers to attendance. #LocalEd25

My neighbour was due to move to Derby tomorrow. She took all her things up in a van. Anyhow it turns out the room was being illegally sub let and now she has nowhere to live. Does anyone know of any rooms to rent in Derby for a single 28 yr old graduate project manager?

So I can confirm that holding a birthday party the say after the end of term is unwise. However, it was also a huge success. We will spend tomorrow recovering!

Shout out to all the volunteers running babies and toddler groups. The one I went to with mine was just amazing in terms of feeling supported. It's so easy to feel alone as a new parent.
Just over 2 years ago I helped to set up a weekly toddler group. Funded with a grant from our parish council, and run by volunteers, it's free to attend, open to all, and still going strong. This thread is about what I've seen, what I've learnt, and what you need to know. ๐งต

we measure what we value and we value what we measure? Wellbeing is essential, but we don't know enough about children's wellbeing in schools specifically. I think this is definitely something worth exploring.
National wellbeing measurement is the missing piece from the Childrenโs Wellbeing and Schools Bill. Read our joint response to the Bill from #BeeWell, @_TheFEA, @ProBonoEcon and @childrensociety. ๐ https://t.co/o5W4estOUB

One of my greatest senses of privilege comes from knowing that I always have backup (from family and friends) if something goes wrong. I find it hard to imagine not having that, and am so grateful. Let's do what we can to help others feel more secure.
The divide between "I'll always be alright" and "I'm always inches away from calamity". Polly Toynbee spoke to us about the insecurity divide, at the launch of our Unsung Britain project. Get the latest research here โคต๏ธ https://t.co/8bekRSCOpb

ah Twitter. The last fortnight of term wouldn't be the same without the usual fight over showing a film or not...

A Friday smile. My parents live right by a nursery and a primary school. My dad just put this up on the garage!

This is one take of course, but parental 'choice' is mostly constrained by oversubscription criteria - predominantly distance. These report cards will not change that. https://t.co/affV4VzEhx

Local projects are under way to create school report cards that could inform Ofsted's national changes.

this is a pretty astonishing, and extremely concerning, increase. We need to look really closely at what is driving this, and where it's happening.
Hot Off the Press..."๐จ New Department for Education data reveals a rise in exclusions in schools. Permanent exclusions up to 4.168 in autumn 2023/2024, this is an increase of 1.100 compared to autumn 2022/202. https://t.co/zkSikWVAxU

It was great to work on this with @EduPolicyInst and @mission44. With huge thanks to the young people and school leaders who gave generously of their time to participate.
