bizarre take. yt-dlp saves as webm because that’s the format served by youtube’s cdn. why would they tack on a conversion step to an arbitrary format by default?.
I feel you can see "enshittification" everywhere now. If you ask YouTube downloader yt-dlp to download a video from YouTube. You'd expect to get an MP4 video file you can upload somewhere else, and you do get an MP4, but then immediately it deletes it, in favor of a WEBM file
