Question for @paleolimbot - on windows, should R computations like mutate on an arrow dataset be multithreaded? arrow::cpu_count is 36 but only ever seems to use 1. Sorry, can’t seem to find info in docs.

As a fan of multiprocessing, swapping out R’s math libraries for optimized versions really cuts down on the run time for large spatial models!

Moreover, households are, in general, making fewer moves over time (in line with trends in many countries around the world):

Interestingly, we also see a general increase in transit access to work and non-work destinations over the study period:

Nevertheless, they do not undergo as great of a reduction in transit accessibility as higher-income movers, and this gap in experienced changes in transit accessibility between higher- and low-income movers is converging over time.

Low-income residents do, on average, experience reductions in their levels of transit accessibility when moving within the region, suggesting a growth in people at risk of transport poverty.

Here’s a cumulative one too - difference in sum of jobs reachable within 45 minutes rather than the “gravity”-based version

Didn’t get to finish the thought earlier - travel times calculated over every minute each hour using #r5r and access based on the median travel time, so service levels are reflected. Opportunities weighted by this bottom gravity function calibrated to TTC trip durations!

Building on @RaktimMitra @TMUTransForm ’s research into the upcoming TTC service changes, here’s a quick look at differences in transit access to jobs after the new schedules enter service next week. @wklumpen @FarberSteven and I digging deeper into results by neighbourhood
