The Texas Crown Act allows continued discipline for long hair and hair color. This article will help better understand the continued criminalization of Blair hair.
My newest op-ed is out. In it, I crunched some numbers. We hear all the time from police & prosecutors about "felony arrests" to get harsher policies passed. But what actually happens to felony arrests?
Over 80% of them are dismissed. A thread w/ facts:
Humbled to be named one of the 2023 Texas NAACP Presidential Award winners for Outstanding Academic Courage. 📚💫 Truth be told, we just refused to let our advocacy hide in the library! Thanks, Texas NAACP, for this honor—it's a reminder that courage often starts with curiosity.

The Texas Crown Act has loopholes that allow for continued hair discrimination. Here is an article we wrote that will bring you up to speed and suggest proven solutions to the problem.
Over the course of a week, eight sheriffs—all white men—chosen from the more than 3,000 in the country, attended a series of discussions, lectures, and fireside chats steeped in the far right-wing think tank’s heady intellectualism and radical ideology.
After working with some of Houston’s violence interrupters, it became obvious to me that they need more resources. Check out this recent

“In 1848, Louisiana passed a law declaring that all children born in the penitentiary to African Americans serving life sentences would become property of the state.”
In Louisiana, black women were put in cells with male prisoners and some became pregnant.
All children born in the penitentiary to blacks were property of the state.
At 10 years, they would be auctioned off. The proceeds were used to fund schools for white children.

“Majority of prisoners will be released. 95% will return to society. Of those, about 40% will return to prison through committing new crimes or breaking parole. Those who take educational programs while in prison reduce their odds of returning to prison by 43%.”
The worst part about all of this is that y’all needed video to believe what we have been saying for decades, what data had demonstrated and what y’all have seen before in HD. I wonder where we’d be, had there not been a pandemic and record levels of unemployment.
