Amazing to see from the new website, that the ever modest @henselpushers has, on top of everything else, written easy to play arrangements of the entirety of Fanny Hensel’s Das Jahr. They come with great teaching resources ❤️🎹

Thanks to @SFConservMusic students who performed the premiere of Mark Fax’s string quartet. The work wasn’t published and the composition date is unknown. We also received more donations for the studio recording so THANK YOU. :)

Along with recording Mark Fax's string quartet, we're going to add music from his former students from @HowardU: Dorothy Rudd Moore, and Adolphus Hailstork. Listen to Fax's work at https://t.co/rhYALIjLId. There, you can also consider supporting. Every dollar helps.

Another day, another powerhouse conductor announcing an entire season with only one work by a woman. A generous seven whole minutes for music written by a woman.

The people in power are always criticizing protests for not being peaceful enough... and then they arrest a man for playing Bach on cello? Come on, it doesn't GET more peaceful than that. It's not like he was doing anything dangerous, like playing Bach on bass

Thanks everyone for your support! I am a one-person operation, completely self-financed. If you feel like donating, here are some typical costs you can defray. https://t.co/LCtwLibPiP If you can’t donate—or don’t want to—don’t! I just like sharing this work with you all.

Today I published my 97th piano score by Hensel, which accounts for 72% of her piano catalog

Four years ago, less than a fifth of Hensel’s piano scores were online: the 18 that she published and an additional 5 on imslp and other sites.

btw, any mistakes in the texts of these scores are SOLELY my fault due to my very limited German skills! Still working out some minor details with the text this morning, with new versions going live as I fix them.

@Donauschwalbe notes this is a very elegant way to de-sexualize the male view of the female subject. Discussion of the process here:

Wie Fanny Hensel ein Gedicht umdichtete und so eine fiktive Frau vom Sexobjekt zur geliebten Persönlichkeit "errettete". Eine Interpretation.

Hensel changed the second line from “Und laßt mich ihren keuschen Leib ansehen” (“And let me look at her chaste body”) to “und lasset mich ihr holdes Antlitz sehn” (“and let me see her lovely face”).

H363 is another small cycle of 3 works set to poems by the nobleman Minnesänger Otto IV. Hensel used (or created) an alternate version of the last poem, lessening the original, more sexualized view of the woman described in the poem.

H362 is a setting of another Heine poem with a spooky middle section describing a "ghost island". The piece is included in the Hensel's travel album of their trip to Italy. Wilhelm drew a couple in a rowboat looking at the island of Capri on the first page of the score.
