2¹³⁶²⁷⁹⁸⁴¹−1, discovered today, is the largest known prime. It's a Mersenne prime (2ᵖ-1), which are easier to find. It took nearly 6 years for the GIMPS software to find it after the previous largest known prime. It was also the first Mersenne prime found using GPUs.

I got to be a part of a paper on QLCS events in Europe with friends from Poland and Slovakia.
Using OPERA radar data 📡, we found that every year, 184 QLCSs occur on average in Europe ⛈️. In 2014-21, they were responsible for 104 deaths and 886 injuries. Check our new paper published in BAMS! https://t.co/dJ5FFhIrhO

Anniversary of a piece I wrote about tornado safety. We still have issues with people giving bad advice that tornadoes aren't survivable if you're not underground.

We are in the process of updating our severe potential graphic, but want to share this ASAP. A dangerous atmospheric environment will be present today and there is now a HIGH risk for multiple tornadoes over north-central and into central OK. Plan now! #okwx #texomawx

A rose by any other name is out in final form. Fun with 3 elements of the 2x2 table. With @MontePHD. One typo inserted by technical editor. Should a paragraph break before the last two sentences of abstract.
