Tau lesions in chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) are also sites of concentrated glial reactivity. In our recent paper we used multiplex immunohistochemistry to explore the microenvironment of these lesions.

We co-labelled four antibodies associated with early and advanced tangle maturity and used @FijiSc to segment individual tangle objects. Using spectral clustering we identified five distinct populations of tangles in Alzheimer's disease brains.

We were intrigued by @DrChristinaMo and @DrNeuroChic excellent 2021 review on neurofibrillary tangle maturity and wondered if we could apply our multiplex IHC approach to identify an immunophenotype signature for tangle maturity.
