It is increasingly difficult to escape the conclusion that, to all intents & purposes, the UK government wants a Brexit In Name Only, i.e. all of the "sovereignty", few of the consequences.

@hayward_katy And even ‘sovereignty’ as defined specifically by this Government to mean largely unaccountable Ministers, Henry VIII powers and neutering Oarliament

@hayward_katy But consequences there will be no matter what. I can't fathom how they see the future with eventually no EU deal and no US deal. Or do they think charter cities will sustain them and to hell with the people? If it's hard brexit and no US deal what is their end game?

@hayward_katy Do you mean the UK govt intends to bind itself as close as possible to all the institutions and prior arrangements it had before and just call it Brexit? If so, I'd agree that's a BINO, but I'm not sure that's what they are doing.

@hayward_katy They were never going to get that. If we don't pay the membership we don't get to play in their beautiful single market.

@hayward_katy I think they wanted the illusion of leaving, to sell to a public in order to stay in power.

@hayward_katy And the uk never lost its sovereignty. Or did the EU force the uk to have #Ref16 and leave the EU?

@hayward_katy @terry_goody They want a "no deal" and they want to blame the EU for it. This has been their game since 2017.

@hayward_katy But, and this important, with different Prime Ministers calling BINO something different, each time the Prime Minister changes. 🙃

@hayward_katy Logically Brexit cannot be ‘done’ without a whole raft of consequences that convince you not to do it . And so we go on .. and on

@hayward_katy Public voted to leave and the EU are making it very difficult for the UK as they are not keen on other countries leaving too. We managed fine before 1972 and we will be grand going forward.

@hayward_katy They could have left, stayed in SM and CU and claimed it a great success, and the vast majority of leaveniks would have been perfectly happy if they had just implemented FOM rules as they were

@hayward_katy I think you are right . For too many people of the Vote Leave league thought that getting out of the EU would mean not having to pay them any contribution , doing our own thing , stopping them from coming here but still continuing to enjoy all the privileges that the EU offered.
