Made a decision to switch to the Raspberry Pi Pico W instead of the STM32F401CC as it is cheaper and easier for students to follow along with so i will be re-writing Chapter 1 and 2 in my FREE Embedded Hacking book. Below is a picture of the new dev board setup.

The Cantor is a design i've looked at for a few months. it uses a STM32F401CC aka the "blackpill", which is 6 bucks on aliexpress and has a shitload of pins. the number of pins means it doesn't need diodes which makes it very cheap and simple to build.

Can swap the #stm32F103C8t6 for an #stm32F401CC, they are pin compatible. I have checked the USB and ext. osc. and they appear to be on the same pins, but there may be other peripherals that are not the same. #stm32 #programming

Excite that the @ST_World STM32F401CC is out & can be ordered for a very reasonable price. Better value than DSPIC33 http://t.co/tEGhK4L9Ba.

I am having to port over RP2040 code (bc of course I choose the most obscure STM32F401CC mc) and that plus platformio / tinyusb just have not wanted to work at all. just ripping up tinyusb's lib and taking what works and "fixing" what doesn't. its a learning process. .
