Satellite view Pyrocumulus cloud from the Bear Gulch fire, really got going this afternoon, looking forward to cooler/wet weather later this week that should help knock it down quite a bit. #wawx #Wildfire

A reported scene from SoCal's "Line Fire:" "Some reported seeing pyrocumulus clouds in the area—a sign the fire was intense enough to create its own micro-weather system. The phenomenon occurs when heat from burning vegetation rapidly rises into a cooler atmosphere, causing

The #RattlesnakeFire in southern Ferry County produced a pyrocumulus this evening around 35,000 feet. A pyrocumulus cloud forms if there is enough moisture and atmospheric instability over the intense heat source. Not something you see every day here in Washington. #wawx #idwx

A dramatic pyrocumulus cloud, or fire cloud, formed as the large Dragon Bravo Fire burned along the Grand Canyon's North Rim in Arizona this week.⁣ A pyrocumulus cloud is similar to a normal cumulus cloud, but it is formed through large amounts of smoke from nearby wildfires.

The #LowerSugarloafFire has developed a pyrocumulus cloud shortly after sunset reaching near 40,000 feet. The fire looks very active on area webcams. A radar cross section from the Seattle radar shows the depth of the plume! #wawx

This is the largest wildfire France has ever seen — an area larger than Paris burned overnight. 16,000 hectares and still growing. Wildfires across Europe are up a staggering 40% this year. The fingerprints of climate change are undeniable. A Towering Pyrocumulus pictured.

Lots of smoke on satellite this evening in Canada as dozens of wildfires burn out of control, particularly in Alberta where pyrocumulus clouds can be seen. Around 17,000 people are under evacuations in Manitoba and a 30 day provincial emergency has been declared in Saskatchewan.
