Unless it’s been burnt, nearly every plastic toothbrush ever made since the 30s is still out there somewhere. These were all picked up from Cornish beaches. #plasticheritage

Ice cream spoons. Used once and thrown away. These all washed ashore with seaweed from the seabed. They don't float. All from one beach. #plasticheritage

Washed up mouse from the game Mousetrap, first published by Ideal in 1963. Not sure how old this particular mouse is but he's quite sea-worn. I wonder where he begun his journey to the sea, and how long ago. Mousetrap isn't a game you typically take to the beach. #plasticheritage

This 45-year old bubble bath bottle/piggybank washed up in Cornwall yesterday. It was made in Canada in 1976. Where has it been all that time? Not buried in dunes as it's covered in algae. #plasticheritage

This Zorro ring was given away in packets of Quaker Puffed Wheat in 1959. Some 60 years later we found it on a Cornish beach, washed out of the sand after a storm. #plasticheritage #contemporaryarchaeology #Anthropocene

Hair slides/accessories found on Cornish beaches. Many are thought to be 'vintage' Goody barrettes from the 80s, though you can still buy them today. #plasticheritage #plasticarchaeology #contemporaryarchaeology #anthropocene

Reunited for #FindsFriday - Robin Hood and Maid Marian, both found on Cornish beaches just a few miles apart. These were free inside packets of Kellogg's cornflakes in the 60s. Thanks to beachcombing pal Alan Alder for the loan of Maid Marian for the occasion! #plasticheritage

These baking powder submarines were all found on Cornish beaches, washed up from the seabed after storms. Free in Kelloggs cereal packets, the orange one here is either from 1957 or 1963 and the yellow subs are from 1986. #plasticheritage
