Yet another $10mil abandoned resort, not even the one my mate squats. The coast of broken dreams probs why Cooks miserable arse names have stuck. (Tribulation, Sorrow, Disapointment etc.) Apparently are great tax write offs, though. Oh, and MICROBATS!

Found this little fella having a kip in the laundry this morning (we don't have a belfrey) ;) Maybe a Nyctophilus geoffroyi - lesser long-eared bat? I don't know my microbats at all really ... #Bats #Microbats #Summer #Ecology #Wildlife

An expedition has discovered a remote Fijian cave with thousands of microbats thought to be nearly extinct. They are moth-size.

I spy, you spy, we all spy a Numbat! Visitors at Yookamurra Wildlife Sanctuary recently encountered a small, striped individual during a Nature Festival SA guided walk. The group also encountered Geckoes, Burrowing Bettongs and Microbats! đź“· P Barnes, A Hendry/AWC

🦇Flooding in eastern NSW is driving bats to seek shelter in unusual spots; like a jacket on a veranda in Coffs Harbour. Thanks to Philip for giving microbats a safe space to rest. #ausbats #microbats

When all of you super smart bat scientists decide what we should use instead of megabats and microbats, can one of you let me know? I’m just a little guy and don’t understand big words.

Two groups I'm struggling to find and photograph for 365Species: freshwater fish, and microbats. 20% of our mammal kin are bats. Flying foxes are the objective best, but we need some more. Share bat pics if you have them! @batappreciation #BatAppreciationDay #IndiAves

Microbats in SA #AWC sanctuaries are getting microtrims as part of PhD student Amy Rowles' research on White-striped Freetail Bat's seasonal movements.🦇 By comparing isotope levels in their fur vs wing membrane we hope to gauge their location during post-moult fur growth!

Please...they're not disease-spreading ugly pests!!! Australians are urged to look out for our precious microbats - so vulnerable to climate fluctuations & habitat disruption. The latest cold spell in NSW could see them seeking shelter in people's homes.. https://t.co/Pp1y0dfjbA

This #Fridaythe13th, we’ve gone batty over these microbat images from our ecologists #inthefield! Microbats are small to medium-sized, weighing from 3g to 150g, with wingspans of around 25cm. 📸 E Mulder, G Barnett, R Jenson/AWC

Coast Banksias make great street trees because even though naturally a big tall tree they CAN be pruned like this. Then they dont touch powerlines, reduce urban heat load & reliably feed tonnes of birds, insects, & microbats with big yellow flowers. 40 yr + tree at Allansford.

From flying foxes to microbats, Australia's bat species are as diverse as they are essential to our ecosystems. ⚠️Only trained wildlife volunteers should handle a bats. DO NOT touch them even if they are entangled in a net. Keep you r distance and contact WIRES
