Last night @Sydney_Uni celebrated #science #week with The Species Showdown debate. Highly entertaining for an audience that easily ranged from 8 to 80. Well communicated science, enjoyed and embraced by a diverse crowd. #science #Sydney #communication

The only appropriate way to complete my MRes (artificial habitat for microbats) was to build a bat box. Based on the design and location, Gouldβs wattled bat will occupy this one. More designs and smaller entrances on the cards. π¦ #artificialhabitat #urbanecology #batboxes

Today, in the top of a red gum, in a hollow with an opening smaller than my hand, I found a feral cat. No wonder many of our arboreal mammals and birds have declined, they wouldnβt stand a chance.

A feathertail glider visiting one of my bat boxes in the #Cumberland #Plain. Iβve identified 19 different vertebrates investigating the #artificial #roosts but not a single #ringtail #possum. For a species that is so common in Sydney, where have all the ringtails gone?
