Here is my scene with an InstanceMesh & shader material rendering simple cubes. Then planes. It was quite a pain to work out how to render these in random locations through a shader, using an instance mesh and my prev positionsArray of randomly generated verts .

This is where things got tricky with the snowflake shader. I wanted to do a bit more than what THREE.Points() would allow. I tried THREE.Mesh(), THREE.lines() . etc . Until I found THREE.InstanceMesh . (all hail the Suzanne instance cube) #b3d
