My 1st Grader brought this home today. While other states are banning books and history we are doing the opposite in CA. Proud that my kids can go to school and learn all of American history good and bad. Today they learned about the courage and perseverance of Ruby Bridges. ❤️

New healing behavior! Believe it or not, this is new & good progress. Miss Ruby, during the “bad man” hours is now showing not just concern but curiosity. She didn’t dart to the bedroom. She is staying & watching her dad & building new habits that will eventually feel safe!❤️‍🩹

I must learn how to do a cartwheel. Many of you know Ruby had two prior neglectful & abusive homes. Her “bad man” active time was 5-7pm. We have worked hard to help her supplant those bad triggers w/good feelings. Her panic, vigilance & stress seem better! Now? This!❤️‍🩹

Update on sweet Ruby Her spunk is back in full display! Will still test platelets again but so far so good Mum also learned a key trauma insight. “Daddy” = Bad Man to Ruby. So we are using “Papa” for hubby. Abuser was a daddy & she always shuts down in fear at that word ❤️‍🩹

Outdoor Ruby is having a good time. She’s so much like a typical dog when we have patio time with hubby. Now that the weather is cooler and days shorter, we need to find ways to keep these two bonding! Hope indoor Ruby will soon see she has no “bad man” in her life now! ❤️‍🩹

Now that the discovery was made that daddy=bad man, the task is to make strong verbal associations for Ruby that “Papa” is all good & not to be feared. All treats come from Papa. Dinner is from Papa The guy walking around is Papa. All vocalized so Ruby soon understands.❤️‍🩹

Good news - love the color and the padding is amazing. Bad news - bad batch according to installer. Backing was falling apart when he tried to stretch it. So reorder it is. Tacked down the necessary parts new batch next week 🤷‍♀️. Edi-approved though 😄🐾❤️
