My BIL sent me a reel about an author that wrote some fantasy book and self-pub and now is invited to schools to talk to kids. I looked him dead in the eye and said: my book is not for kids, itโs an adult romantasy, there are adult themes, blood, mystery, curses, ๐ถ๏ธ ๐๐

I think when Iโm done with Entwined book 1, I might have to draft something for kids. To give to my son when heโs able to read. probably under another pen name. He has no business reading chapter 58 of my current book until heโs 25 (?)

And I would love to contribute with my story to Canadian culture. How an outsider ends up belonging here even if she doesnโt know the rules or grew up here. Thatโs why im sticking to this book either by trad pub or self pub. So when I see other Canadian authors and storiesโฆ

And Iโm the type of person that gets excited about Canada, in movies and tv shows when they are set here or filmed here. And knowing people are interested in Canadian culture gives me hope and a thrill. We arenโt perfect, but we are trying our best (at least I am)

But like, I donโt care if people donโt want to read about Canada. My book has been shaped by the 15 years I have lived here. Specifically in Alberta. How I found my identity here, and how I do still belong to my culture but Iโm part of here too.

I gotta say, I do have good feelings regarding Heated Rivalry as a Canadian author. My book is completely different but also set in Canada. When I started writing I wondered: do people want to read about the mountains in Canada? Some sorcerers and stuff??

I should probably do the writer wrapped and the whole three sentences for the first three chapters. But itโs been hard to focus. I havenโt edited to have something decent lol. I can give it a try.
