Day 30 The final day of #Museum30 😥 and today is #WhyMuseums ? Museums are brilliant, you meet people from all over the world,🌍 share stories 📖 and gain something new, from knowledge👩‍🎓 to a sense of wellbeing🤗. I don't know any other career like it. #30moreyears

Final day of #Museum30 i have loved doing this. Today is #WhyMuseums ? Quite simply because they make me happy and inspire me to share that happiness and passion for collections with others.

#WhyMuseums ? To be a place of encounter with the past in all its weirdness and familiarity, a place to meet the ancestors, whether they be strangers or family, friends or colleagues. #Museum30

#WhyMuseums ? To take the raw clay of objects, art, film, music, books and archives and to turn it into the heart, soul, conscience and mirror of a nation, community or organisation, bringing the dead to life as a caution and an encouragement. #Museum30

Having been open for just over three years now (we missed our birthday on 16th Nov!) we think it’s important to get the word out about the history of policing as part of the public debate on the role of the police. #museum30 #whymuseums

In the 1990's DS Elworthy had the idea for a collection of objects that would narrate the history of policing in #Birmingham. His enthusiasm was infectious and, though it's been a roller-coaster, the Lock Up opened in April 2022, and now has 4000+ objects #Museum30 #WhyMuseums

#Museum30 theme 30 is #WhyMuseums. Dunblane’s historic Leighton Library is a heritage book museum. We see it as important to share widely story of Robert Leighton (who left to Dunblane, in will of 1683, his entire collection of books, & money to build library to house them)…/👇
