90 years ago today PC Robert Holmes lost his life due to a road collision, whilst on duty in Birmingham. Holmes was on patrol late on a Saturday night on the Hawthorn road when he was struck down by a vehicle, succumbing to his injuries in hospital shortly after.

During the decommissioning of Police Boxes, ours was lucky enough to be salvaged and kept in the garden of retired Warwickshire Assistant Chief Constable Jim Powell. It was then donated to our museum, restored, and now forms a firm favourite of our collection! #Museum30 #Box

Sgt. John Poole suffered a fatal fall on this day 160 years ago. The Birmingham Gazette reported at the time that Sgt. Poole left behind "a widow and eight children totally unprovided for" and encouraged donations to the family.
