Our tailoring trainees with Malawi partner, FESODEV, have received their refurbished sewing machines. Yesterday we held an open day to show people exactly what these machines mean to trainees. But...this video says it all. I new opportunity, new access to business and profit.

Eddie started a new project in our Tools for Self Reliance workshop. He drew a ‘happy face’ & an ‘ok face’ on the wooden board. We cut it, then had a little adventure around the workshop to find the best bits for finishing the faces. #CamphillMK #ToolsForSelfReliance #Abilities

Our last 2023 shipment has arrived in Malawi containing 5,767 expertly refurbished tools and making up 217 trainee kits. But why does this matter? A hammer might just be that to a DIY enthusiast in the UK, but these tools in the hands of our trainees are so much than that (1)

What is this #mysterytool? There's a hole in the top, perhaps for liquid? Inserting the correct gadget into one end will presumably make the brush-lined cogs go round (doesn't work with a ballpoint pen) and it's full of muck... so maybe its intended to clean something. But what?

@georgecmcgavin Hi George, my granny Shari Whatley used to volunteer for TFSR in Netley Marsh, she would get old Singer sewing machines working again before they were sent to people, so I would recommend them: https://t.co/EejDX71pzf
