The stops aren't just a Metro problem, though. They're an LAPD wide problem. @PUSHinLA is still calling for the end of pretextual stops, in which officers pull over a driver for a minor violation and use it as a racist fishing expedition to look for more serious wrongdoing.

Glad Chief Moore is listening. But we want to see a policy that ends the pretextual traffic stops that affect Black & Latino folks in all of L.A., not just the area covered by Metro. @PUSHinLA's list of demands would be a good place to start. https://t.co/OhLZcXV85m #StopTheStops

This is no doubt a big victory and shift in police policy! #StopTheStops LAPD’s Metro Division, which has been racially profiling residents of South LA, will drastically cut back on pulling over random vehicles. https://t.co/TfgwjVgI6y

This is only the beginning of @PUSHinLA's work. We're 15 social justice organizations dedicated to reforming racist policing in LA and accountable to Black & Brown people. It's resources that are critical to ensuring public safety, not just the police. #StopTheStops

@PUSHinLA We went outside the LAPD HQ for a #StopTheStops rally with part of our grassroots base and coalition leaders. The criminalization of our communities must end. As one speaker who lost her grandson at the hands of the LAPD noted, racial profiling is a matter of life and death.

This morning, the @PUSHinLA coalition sent a letter with 4 demands to Mayor Garcetti & LAPD Chief Moore after the release of appalling racial profiling data. You can read the letter here where we also compare the LAPD to the NYPD during stop & frisk: https://t.co/Oypswyue1f

The @PUSHinLA coalition demands 1) an immediate moratorium on pretextual stops that are used to initiate vehicle searches 2) for the LAPD to apologize and admit to racial profiling 3) to offer financial reparations and 4) to fire problem officers. https://t.co/QxHG1zM6WD
