🤯 Me: Fascinating. It’s amazing the things we’ll do to avoid distributed locks, or coordination in general.

There were a bunch of good questions in the Hacker News comments - some intriguing, some funny, some strange. so I collected them into a post, along with my responses:.

2. Another option mentioned by @pushtoprod is investment directly from customers. So they pay for features that they want you to implement. I sometimes get requests for very specialised features tailored for a particular company, but I can't always prioritise this (4/5).
