It’s #InvasivesWeek! To highlight this important issue this week’s challenge is to find a non-native plant that is considered to be invasive. Post your pics using the hashtag #invasiveplants for #Wildflowerhour this Sunday 8-9pm!

The New Zealand flatworm, Arthurdendyus triangulatus, with black pea-like hatched egg case. We come across this non-native invasive species quite regularly during our herpetofauna surveys. They are likely introduced to sites via import of horticultural material. #InvasivesWeek

Final day of #InvasivesWeek & the theme is small islands – which doesn’t necessarily mean land surrounded by water. Biogeographic islands can be lakes, mountain ranges or catchments. #Ruffe is indigenous to E & SE England, but introduced to the SW and Scotland. #NonIndigenous

It's #InvasiveSpecies week! Invasive species like the #AsianHornet can be incredibly harmful to our honey bees and pollinators. You can help stop the spread. If you see an Asian hornet, report your sighting: https://t.co/wAAfSp7IP6 #InvasivesWeek

#InvasivesWeek continues with today’s theme of bogs & woodland habitats. Non–native plant species such as Rhodendron pontium & Gunnerra tinctoria have encroached on some peatlands and bogs causing large areas to dry out, rendering it unsuitable for native peatland flora.

#InvasivesWeek Everyone has a role in helping to prevent the spread of invasive species. A new invasion can start from a single tiny animal, egg or a fragment of a plant.
