More people need to be aware of the ridden horse pain ethogram by Sue Dyson. Riders Judges Vets We wouldn't have as many discussions about if the things we see are welfare issues or not (they are) So many of these behaviors are signs of pain if they appear often/long enough.

The value of same species companionship is so often overlooked in pet dogs. While common to have one dog, doesn’t mean we can’t give them opportunities to fulfil their ethogram ( sociable) Dogs have an ability to make meaningful relationships in a variety of contexts ♥️ #dogs

Studying #AnimalBehavior is fascinating & constantly developing. But how do you study an animal that spends its whole life under water? By taking advantage of the time it's at the surface! One of the most important “tools” for #whale behavior research is an ethogram. 🐋

Flipper slapping is an ethogram #scientists record where a whale is on it's back, side or rolls over and repeatedly slaps it's flipper on the surface. With these “arms” that are 15 ft in length, it can be quite powerful to see! #WhaleWednesday
