Sat down for the evening and discovered I missed @gloshospitals #CancerInsight day. I’ve had a busy day in the Forest of Dean, administering chemotherapy with a colleague on the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit. My first time working on here since being a Chemotherapy student in 2017.

1/2 Oncology specialist dietitians are able to provide evidence-based, expert advice on the diet needed to help optimise a patients nutritional wellbeing, treatment outcomes and quality of life. #CancerInsight

Our cancer clinical trials team provides exceptional support to our haematologists and oncologists. Patients are able to benefit from local access to research and do not have to travel to large teaching hospitals to take part in these trials #CancerInsight

We are the largest robotic surgery centre in the south west. This began five years ago with prostate surgery, is now also used for gynaecological surgery and this is likely to expand into other specialties in future #CancerInsight

We're proud to support the role of a Specialist Nurse for Teenagers & Young adults with Cancer, Megan Willsher. Megan's expertise and knowledge in this age group really makes a difference to their cancer experience, through their treatment & beyond. #cancerinsight

2/2 The Oncology specialist dietitians can provide nutritional counselling to patients and their families or carers at any stage of their cancer treatment and rehabilitation #CancerInsight

1/3 We have a designated 4-bedded children’s oncology unit called ‘Emily Kent Unit’ just off the main children's ward. We currently have 18 children and young people under 17 years of age on treatment. #CancerInsight

The role of our Pathology team is not just in diagnostics, but also includes ongoing surveillance and treatment, as well as screening to allow early detection and therefore easier treatment #CancerInsight

Biopsies for prostate cancer are mainly done under general anaesthetic but we are piloting a pioneering local anaesthetic that allows people to go home afterwards #CancerInsight

2/3 Paediatric oncology is a small team based at GRH serving the whole county. We are a level 3 shared care centre and we closely with our primary treatment centre colleagues in Bristol to deliver a high standard of care. #CancerInsight
