1. Connect to Los Angeles - BL West and its predecessor, Xpress West, always had LA-Vegas in mind. Upgrading the San Gabriel Line to accommodate electrified HSR would not be easy (likely an order of magnitude harder than CalMod), but it would be well-worth it.

@def__sam__self @Ashmew8 @samgreeenberg This would have been the correct move when they built BART to SFO, but at this point w/ HSR + Calmod I've changed my tune a bit. SFO should be the regional hub for air ⇔ rail to bring better regional access + reduce/eventually eliminate regional flights eg FAT/SCK/SMF/MRY/STS

@LeighWolf @xbhaskarx @bayeslord "They haven't laid a single foot of track" Besides that track is one of the last things to be installed, calmod is part of cahsr. Most of the delays have come from people suing to stop the project, only allowing construction to begin in 2015.
