More than 30 students are embarking on an exciting journey into quantum science with QIS 101: Foundations of Quantum Information Science!. Over the next six weeks, they'll explore scientific computing, hear from #C2QA researchers, and develop #quantum algorithms using IBM Qiskit.

Congratulations to the 35 students and professors who completed QIS 101 this summer! 🎉. In six weeks, they tackled the equivalent of a 12-credit college course, diving into math, physics, and computer science topics that provide a foundation for real-world #quantum computing.

Our QIS 101 students dove into the world of topological #quantum computing with Layla Hormozi, who leads the Quantum Computing group at @BrookhavenLabCS. Hormozi also shared key advice for aspiring interns: become familiar with quantum mechanics and develop strong coding skills.

Yesterday, COO Kimberly McGuire and #CFNatBrookhaven Director Charles Black kicked off QIS 101 with a powerful message for the students: This is just the beginning. The computing skills they gain in QIS 101 could help them solve the biggest scientific challenges of tomorrow.

Local educators recently visited @BrookhavenLab to learn how to run #quantum algorithms on real quantum hardware using IBM Qiskit. Soon, they'll bring these hands-on exercises to their own high school classrooms as part of a quantum computing course inspired by #C2QA curriculum.
