So from Adigrat we went to Zalanbessa to see how the people there were doing. The bottom line in Zalanbessa is water. They need clean water. This was a well, but the Eritrean military destroyed it during the war. /1

One of the highlights of my time in #Tigray was a trip up to see Zalanbessa, which started with a visit the al-Nejashi mosque, the first mosque in Africa (some dispute this.) It was bombed and looted by invading forces early in the war but is now restored. /1
