On the seventh day of Archives, #hfxarchives doesn't have seven swans a-swimming, but we do have one giant swan a-floating in the 1950 Natal Day parade. Dartmouth Coal & Supply Co. was celebrating the Dartmouth Bicentenary. #12DaysofArchives

The 2nd day of #12DaysOfArchives comes from our collection of The Middlesex Regiment, an infantry regiment of the British Army. The sender of this Christmas postcard is a Prisoner of War, who sent the postcard, from a German Prisoner of War Camp, home to Ipswich, 1940.

On the fifth day of Archives, #hfxarchives gave to me... Olympic Taxi on a wintry day in 1961. We know it's not exactly five gold rings but the name does call to mind something else that is associated with five well known rings. #12DaysofArchives

#hfxarchives couldn't find any maids milking cows for this eighth day of Archives, however we did find one notice from the Board of Health for Halifax about the care of cows and milk, posted in local dairies between 1922 and 1941. #12DaysofArchives

They might not be lords but they’re definitely a-leaping! For the 10th day of Archives, #hfxarchives has Halifax Capitals catcher Bob Fitzgerald (left, bottom right) and Halifax Cardinals pitcher Dick Wilkins (top right) in mid-air. #12DaysofArchives

On the twelfth day of Archives, #hfxarchives gave to me - slightly fewer than 12 police band drummers in a parade, captured as they were on Barrington St. at George St. Taken by Allen Fraser, this photo likely can be dated to sometime between 1923 and 1929. #12DaysofArchives
