"Harry, enough! It's enough already" —My mom when I was five minutes old
Joined April 2009
BOB DYLAN: "Joni Mitchell had an album out called BLUE. It affected me. I couldn't get it out of my head. It just stayed in my head. When I wrote [Tangled Up in Blue], I wondered, 'What's that mean?' Then I figured that it was just there, and I guess that's what happened.".

I feel like the purpose of this video was to set up a situation where it can be shown to Paul McCartney during an interview as a test to see if the most publicly polite man on the planet will call something a piece of shit.

@JFrankensteiner The poor bastards of Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed. Even more tragically, I fear they will never know the pleasure of reading great writing on a mustard yellow webpage.

@JFrankensteiner After Whitney Houston died, Kevin Costner put out a statement calling her his "one true love." I remember this vividly, because all I could think was, "Wait a minute, doesn't Kevin Costner have a wife?" Yes, he did. And he does no more.

The most Dylan of all Dylan moves. You think he's gonna recommend something rare. Instead he says, "Hey you know what Band song you should listen to? The one you've heard a million times. But this time REALLY listen to it".
Sorry to hear the news about Garth Hudson. He was a beautiful guy and the real driving force behind The Band. Just listen to the original recording of The Weight and you’ll see.

James Mangold said when he spoke w/ Bob Dylan about A COMPLETE UNKNOWN, Dylan told him very plainly that part of why he went electric is he wanted to be in a band, because he felt "profoundly lonely" as a solo act. Mangold said "loneliness was a word [Dylan] used more than once".
BOB DYLAN, 1964: "Everybody's lonely, only because everybody's *alone*. People don't eat and sleep for you; people don't kiss for you. You have your own hang-ups. It makes you lonely, everybody's lonely, and I can't really recognize anybody unless they admit this.".

LEONARD COHEN: "I don't think a man ever gets over that first sight of the naked woman. I think that's Eve standing over him, that's the morning & the dew on the skin. All the sad adventures in pornography & love & song are just steps on the path towards that holy vision.".

About 15 yrs ago there was a fella who made a pilgrimage to Dylan's hometown of Hibbing to find the source of Dylan's accent. Wrote a big piece about the experience. Long story short: he didn't find anybody who spoke like Dylan.
American oomfs - what kind of accent does Bob Dylan have? I've never heard it before, it's so unique to my ears.

PATTI SMITH: "I just thought [Bob Dylan] was the sexiest—sex in the brain, you know? Sex at its most ultimate is being totally illuminated, and he was that, he was the King. And he still has it. I don't think his true power has been unleashed. I haven't stopped believing in him.".

For every thousand terrible Bob Dylan impressions there is one that is so good it singlehandedly justifies the continued existence of the Bob Dylan impression genre. This is the one. Well done, @shrimpJAJ.

Bob Dylan moving his musings from Instagram to Twitter is the biggest win this place has ever had. Vindication for every tweeter, and every monkey man.
Last time in New Orleans we ate at Dooky Chase’s Restaurant on the corner of North Miro and Orleans. If you’re ever there I highly recommend it.

The end of Bob Dylan's interview with AARP The Magazine in 2015
In interview after interview, Bob Dylan has made it clear that the one subject he knows well and cares deeply about is music, so of course it's only natural that most people who have interviewed him over the years have spent their time trying to get him to comment on politics.

Said it before, I'll say it again: George Harrison is the greatest Dylan fan of all time. The man was more excited about knowing Bob Dylan than he was about being in The Beatles. It's impossible to clear that bar. It's impossible to even see that bar. Game over. George wins.
George Harrison to Bob Dylan: "You were very generous in being a Wilbury… I hope it was not too embarrassing for you."

BOB DYLAN: "Martin Scorsese, he's out there. He's one of probably the best directors ever. My favorite movie is The Last Temptation of Christ. I think he's gonna make one for the *First* Temptation one of these days. Right, Marty? You just got to, for me".
Martin Scorsese plans to direct his new ‘JESUS’ movie later this year. The film will run 80 minutes and most focus “on Jesus’ core teachings in a way that explores the principles but doesn’t proselytize.”. (Source:

One of the most mysterious Dylan moments. Rome press conference in 2001, Dylan was asked if he ever met Elvis and he sounded genuinely unsure of how to respond. Took a long pause before saying no. Then paused again and said: "That's what I'm supposed to say.".
