Notably Biden’s executive order would be rooted in a 1953 law giving presidents broad discretion to withdraw US waters from oil leasing (but not explicitly authorizing revocations). Trump himself used the same power to thwart leasing near Florida weeks before the 2020 election.

Great thread from Jack here. Russia wants to be a part of the conversation, and wants to be seen as a real threat by the American lawmakers and public. These cases of Russia attempting to disrupt the election are as much about reputation as they are about real influence.
🧩As in previous U.S. election cycles, Russia-linked influence operations have attempted to spread false and inflammatory claims online using deceptive practices. Something else that remains the same: They want our attention and they are trolling us.
