why do we still have unlimited approvals now gas fees are so low? Why do new chains like Monad with 10k tps still have this by default for most apps? Why do I have to do multiple clicks and txns to do a simple swap still?

Approvals were a mistake. But also why does every aggregator / dex asks for infinite approvals when swapping or adding liq It can only end in disaster

This has to be a ploy by the Ethereum foundation to get all of the Solana builders arrested for tweets they've made

Have personally struggled a lot with internet addiction over the past few years. It's been easy to lie to myself and pretend that mindlessly doomscrolling is "work" because during some very brief moments (2021 and memecoin mania in 24) being perma glued to the timeline meant

Crypto has had it's Elon moment. You know how a few years ago you'd see these videos of blue haired people working in tech companies posting day in the life videos of them sitting by the pool, drinking free coffee and doing like four minutes of work per day. And it looked

The way to make a lot of money is to remove the friction from things. In doing so you likely kill the magic the friction brings, but you make a lot of money doing so.

Whenever I talk with Crypto founders my number one piece of advice is, remove as much friction as possible from the user. Every extra click, extra log in with X, extra loading time is time where users will leave and go somewhere else. If you can't complete the required action

E.G. with Pokemon the magic is in the hunt. In trying to collect them all. In sourcing them from strange and weird places and finding a bargain. By digitising this and streamlining it you would likely makes many lifetimes worth of money. But when it is streamlined the joy will

One of the best parts of the crypto industry is that (in most cases) it’s incredibly meritocratic If you’re truly good at what you do, people will respect you for it regardless your background, age, gender, location etc A lot of well-known people in crypto have resumes that

Maybe the gambling is what funds the development of the product long term

Have been thinking a lot about this and can’t figure out the perfect model, but there is something to this idea and a lot of the early Gatcha sites are along the right lines, just needs to scale and possibly be less gambling focused to get more eyes on it

Think if I’m in charge of one of the major vaults or custodians of collectibles / gold I’d be heavily thinking about having a crypto strategy. Can kind of see echos of the nft era emerging and it looks like degenerate gambling right now, but I do think a sustainable growth area

You can make the argument that basically everything is gambling or a prediction market of some sort. It’s just more abstract because the prices and results are less defined, or have a longer expiry. Education, relationships, jobs. Basically anywhere you allocate capital.

The biggest gamble for a lot of people is education. Choosing to take out a massive student loan with the hope that the upside will be more than the cost

We want to ban gambling. Gambling is bets that are: - Zero- or negative-sum - Driven by irrational assessment of very small probabilities - Which derives from ppl's emotional biases, rather than rational decision making Thus, let's all agree society should ban car insurance

I still think Crypto will improve the world in ways that are hard to grasp at first. They are largely invisible to prosperous nations because a lot of the problems are abstract and hidden. AI will improve the world in far more visible ways but also potentially increase tyranny

Wonder if part of the malaise of crypto is that before if you were smart your choice was working for tech and figuring out how to get people addicted to algos to sell more adverts vs Crypto where you could try and rebuild finance to be more meritocratic and free from government

I think difference between Investment banking and crypto is that you need luck at different periods of your life. For IB you need luck early on to get good grades, get into a good university and the ability to work very hard to get in. For crypto you need luck at any point in

Most of you wouldn’t make it past the first-round interview at a major investment bank, let alone PE or a hedge fund. You punted some crypto in a bull market, made a bag, and now think you’re a genius. You were mostly lucky What’s wrong with his argument? Oh, checks notes…

Like I definitely am motivated by money to some extent, but it definitely doesn’t really bring me joy. The thing I actually really like is thinking super deep about stuff and having an opinion that’s likely pretty contrarian and watching it come to fruition over time. Bonus

I’m definitely not qualified to work at a major investment bank, but hearing people who worked there brag on every single podcast about being available to reply to every message within minutes at 5am seven days a week makes me think that no amount of money is worth it for me.
